Eucalyptus Populus...pardon?!

Love is in full bloom in Bushey and I would love to share our most recent wedding with you. Our lovely bride and groom got married in the Amber Suite in The Grove Hotel last Saturday. A beautiful wedding it was too, comprising of seasonal blooms for the entrance, ceremony and reception rooms as well as the bridal flowers. A specific request to include Eucalyptus Populus was made as our bride particularly liked the seed/berry part to the foliage to create a flowy, loose and gardeny aspect to the arrangements. What is it you may ask?!...Well it’s from the family of Eucalyptus which is a diverse genus of flowering trees and shrubs, particular dominant and common as the tree flora of Australia or in other words, the food of the Koala!  :) This was very important in the inclusion of her bridal bouquet (a small shower bouquet), the 2 bridesmaid posies and 80 table settings!

There were 9 beautifully elegant white table centres comprising of white Hydrangea, Roses, Phlox and the special ingredient, Eucalyptus Populus! Particularly fresh and smart looking in a mirrored cube I think! Similarly the bride requested 2 pedestal arrangements which created a wonderful backdrop for the ceremony. A delightful combination of white seasonal flowers, the likes of Delphinium, Roses, Hydrangea and Eustoma work really well in the urns.

The entrance table was a splash of colour and showcased fabulous seasonal flowers available to us. I think it truly gives a WOW factor as their guests enter the venue. A brilliant combination of containers present differing heights, textures and flowers, the likes of Hydrangeas, Delphiniums, Clematis, Roses, Senecio and Phalaenopsis Orchids! Brilliant!

Fabulous entrance, wouldn't you agree?!

On a separate occasion this week we were back at The Grove and in the Amber Suite again but this time for a Bar Mitzvah! For those that don’t know, a Bar Mitzvah is a Jewish coming of age ritual for a boy of 13 years of age. Fabulously smart green Hydrangeas in black cubes were created for this event which I think are striking, bold and effective. The children had a long, narrow table of their own so we accompanied a few large cube arrangements with single Hydrangea heads in black bowls interspersed between. Although the room isn't fully dressed in the pictures below, you still gain how smart these arrangements are!

What came next?! O yes! Our most recent event was a wonderful birthday lunch in The Garden Room of The Grove Hotel. For this we created 4 leaf bowl arrangements, ideal for guests to take home afterwards. How lovely are these?! A splendid mix of lime green Hydrangea, purple Delphinium, Eustoma, lilac Freesia, striking Dahlia’s, Roses and Dill really tick all the boxes for a pretty  and charming arrangement.

So with this in mind, you can't beat a trip to our Bushey and Watford shops to gain a true Flower Shop experience!

Hope to see you soon and until next time,

Where to begin?! There have been so many events recently, especially over the last week or so, I’m trying to catch up myself. It’s probably quite surprising to some how busy a small shop in Bushey gets!

So let’s start with the England team! Yes, that's right, the England football team have been staying in a wonderful Hertfordshire hotel while they have been playing in the World Cup Qualifiers. For the duration of their stay they require 3 arrangements for the breakfast buffet table so we arranged this stylish combination of red Gladioli and white Arum Lilies, finished off with a collar of Aspidistra leaves! Smart I think!

How about these 12 table centres for a last minute order on a Saturday afternoon to round off a chaotic week?! Bold, vibrant and seasonal for the Football Association (FA) at The Grove Hotel! A wonderful mix of Brassica, Gerberas, Miss Piggy Roses and both Vanda and Cymbidium Orchids are truly brilliant!

Back to The Grove early doors to set up and deliver 20 Gerbera bowls by 8am and back to the shop for a hard days work! We think they are simple, yet effective for the budget given.

So where else have we been? St James' Restaurant in Bushey for one! For the occasion of an 80th birthday lunch we compiled a selection of vases to host these wonderful roses. Pretty, feminine and fragrant, what more could you ask from a flower?

Hot off the press! Our most recent corporate event has just been set up and delivered to the Amber Suite in The Grove. You may recognise these orange cube arrangements. A short while ago they featured in a previous blog where we had organised sample flower arrangements for a client to choose from….

...And the winner is……In all their glory,19 black cube arrangements containing a brilliant  mix of Germini, Roses, Protea, Shammrock Blooms and Hypericum berries, a nod to their company colours.

The weathers taken a turn for the worst and the seasons are changing; there is a definite feel that autumn is in the air. With autumn comes fabulous flowers, wonderfully rich colours, foliage and berries. Come in, say hello and grab yourself a bunch of seasonal flowers! Also keep an eye out for this weekend’s happenings; two fabulous weddings are in the pipeline! I can't wait to get started!

Over and out for now,

Holly :)

And breathe...

I know, I know…I promised the corporate event photos from the Bank Holiday weekend but there’s a slight halt in proceeding’s as we are waiting for the professional photographs of the shoot at The Grove! If you keep an eye out, you might see our flowers in their brochure :) Big smiles!

So if you don’t mind I’ll fill you in with what’s recently been going on at The Flower Shop although it’s probably easier to say what’s not been going on! It’s been full steam ahead with events and parties and we are trying to catch our breath from the busy Jewish New Year period too! Over the 3 days of Rosh Hashanah, I believe we delivered over 300 gifts in the Hertfordshire, Middlesex and London areas!....this total isn't including shop customers and collected orders!!! WOW! No wonder we feel like we've been hit by a bus!!

Additional to this, we had a few events on the weekend prior to the Jewish New Year, starting with 3 pedestal arrangements required for a wedding at St Clement Danes Church, Strand, London, WC2R 1DR. Originally built by Sir Christopher Wren, it truly is a stunning setting (http://www.raf.mod.uk/stclementdanes/).

Sunday was brilliant! The main event of the day was for a 50th wedding anniversary lunch at Brocket Hall, Welwyn, Hertfordshire ( http://www.brocket-hall.co.uk/). The requirements were to decorate a long dining table so we thought combining both low and high table arrangements would have the most impact! 5 high arrangements, 24 low cube floral arrangements, 6 fish bowl table centres, 2 vase arrangements and lots of bud vases of Gloriosa were the order of the day!

Rich, vibrant and jam packed with seasonal flowers were the ingredients to make for a fabulous event!  The list is endless (almost!) of scrumptious flowers, the likes of Dahlias, Celosia, Alchemilla Mollis, Alliums, Gloriosa, Sweet Peas, Miss Piggy Roses, Oak Leaf and Calla Lilies....

Spectacular!!

That's not all, that evening The Flower Shop went back to The Grove for a private birthday party in the Donneraile room. How pretty, elegant and feminine are these table centres?! A combination of English Hydrangea, Sweet Avalanche Roses, Mint, Dahlias and Vanda Orchids make for a beautiful mix. A scattering of petals is the icing on the cake!

I'll give you time to catch your breath too so until next time,
