A wonderful time at Fortnum and Mason....

Last week was a productive, creative and exciting week for all concerned at The Flower Shop. So what was on the agenda one may ask?!... Among daily shop duties and gift work, we were getting organised for the weekend’s events, the likes of a private function at Fortnum and Mason on the Saturday evening, a private function at The Grove, beautiful posies at Gibson Hall for The Grand Order of Lady Ratlings and a purple candelabra arrangement for AIP events (as seen in the last blog post).

Fortnum and Mason was fabulous! It was a private function held in The Gallery (http://www.fortnumandmason.com/c-159-the-gallery-fortnum-and-mason.aspx). For our customer we created 4 large vase displays and a whole host of terracotta pot arrangements interspersed with candles, acting as a runner to decorate the dining tables. Large, medium and small pots were filled with beautiful autumnal flowers and foliage, the likes of English Hydrangea, Roses, Rose hips, Cotinus, Oak, Peppers and Asclepia… the list continues but the pictures speak for themselves! Take a look at them on situe!...

I don't think you can beat vases jammed packed full of Autumn Foliage this time of year! Reds, browns, oranges and limes really capture the season!

Next up was a date with The Grand Order of Lady Ratlings (GORL) at Gibson Hall for their annual ball (http://www.gibsonhall.com/). The Lady Ratlings came about through the re-organisation of The Grand Order of Water Rats in June 1929. The Lady Ratlings are an esteemed charity organisation within the world of entertainment that raise money for worthy causes and charities through the “Cup of Kindness” (http://www.golr.co.uk/index.html).

A whole host of names from the entertainment profession are linked to GORL as well as HRH The Princess Royal.

On this occasion we created a long and low front facing table arrangement as well as 2 posies that required a 'touch of blue.' So for this we thought a wonderful combination of Sweet Avalanche Roses, Scabiosa, Freesia, Grasses, Cotinus and Rose hips would make a beautiful posie fit for The Queen Ratling! :)

More on The Grand Order of Lady Ratlings to come in a future post so keep an eye out for that!

What next?... Oh yes, a lovely private dinner in The Donneraile Room at The Grove Hotel. Beautifully smart white and green table centres complete with candles in various sizes were the order of the day! Quite atmospheric don't you think?!
