A wonderful time at Fortnum and Mason....

Last week was a productive, creative and exciting week for all concerned at The Flower Shop. So what was on the agenda one may ask?!... Among daily shop duties and gift work, we were getting organised for the weekend’s events, the likes of a private function at Fortnum and Mason on the Saturday evening, a private function at The Grove, beautiful posies at Gibson Hall for The Grand Order of Lady Ratlings and a purple candelabra arrangement for AIP events (as seen in the last blog post).

Fortnum and Mason was fabulous! It was a private function held in The Gallery (http://www.fortnumandmason.com/c-159-the-gallery-fortnum-and-mason.aspx). For our customer we created 4 large vase displays and a whole host of terracotta pot arrangements interspersed with candles, acting as a runner to decorate the dining tables. Large, medium and small pots were filled with beautiful autumnal flowers and foliage, the likes of English Hydrangea, Roses, Rose hips, Cotinus, Oak, Peppers and Asclepia… the list continues but the pictures speak for themselves! Take a look at them on situe!...

I don't think you can beat vases jammed packed full of Autumn Foliage this time of year! Reds, browns, oranges and limes really capture the season!

Next up was a date with The Grand Order of Lady Ratlings (GORL) at Gibson Hall for their annual ball (http://www.gibsonhall.com/). The Lady Ratlings came about through the re-organisation of The Grand Order of Water Rats in June 1929. The Lady Ratlings are an esteemed charity organisation within the world of entertainment that raise money for worthy causes and charities through the “Cup of Kindness” (http://www.golr.co.uk/index.html).

A whole host of names from the entertainment profession are linked to GORL as well as HRH The Princess Royal.

On this occasion we created a long and low front facing table arrangement as well as 2 posies that required a 'touch of blue.' So for this we thought a wonderful combination of Sweet Avalanche Roses, Scabiosa, Freesia, Grasses, Cotinus and Rose hips would make a beautiful posie fit for The Queen Ratling! :)

More on The Grand Order of Lady Ratlings to come in a future post so keep an eye out for that!

What next?... Oh yes, a lovely private dinner in The Donneraile Room at The Grove Hotel. Beautifully smart white and green table centres complete with candles in various sizes were the order of the day! Quite atmospheric don't you think?!

Flowers, Photos and First Encounters...

As some of you may remember, not so long ago The Flower Shop were asked to provide flowers for a photo shoot at The Grove Hotel, Hertfordshire and what a pleasure it was too! From my understanding the photographs are required for a new brochure of theirs. Apologies for the delay in sharing the photos with you as I thought I would wait for the professional ones taken, alas they are not yet available and I cannot wait any longer!

So here goes... we decorated a whopping 31 bowls for The Grove's function rooms and here are just a few in the Watford Shop all ready and waiting for delivery...

Bright arrangement of flowers for The Grove Hotel

The Grove Hotel hosts a number of function rooms which are diverse and flexible in nature. Their luxurious rooms allow for numerous layouts and set ups and act as a glorious back drop for fabulous decorations and flowers.

The Amber Suite is a large room and is truly versatile. For this we arranged fishbowls containing bright, bold and colourful flowers. A striking mix of red Celosia, Orange Roses, Clematis, Blooms, Calla Lilies and fabulous purple Vanda Orchids really stand out!

In contrast to The Amber Suite, The Ivory Room is a perfect venue for exclusive dinners and an intimate wedding so for this room we swayed more towards pretty pinks and purple shades for a softer, summer arrangement. Wonderful English Hydrangea, Eustoma, Roses and Alchemilla Mollis make for an attractive table centre.

As stated on The Grove’s website, the Donneraile Room is ‘an exclusive meeting venue in the heart of their 18th century mansion.' It truly is a beautiful room and can walk hand in hand with The Garden Room.

On this occasion, Dutch white and green Hydrangea arranged with Thlaspi make for a super smart and sleek table centre!

So who were our first encounters with recently?! Well let me enlighten you!... Sunday 13th was an absolute pleasure. We at The Flower Shop were asked to prepare a candelabra arrangement for AIP Events to exhibit on their stand at The Pillar Hotel, North London. A great meeting to celebrate AIP’s upcoming events, the likes of weddings and Bar/Bat Mitzvah's!

Perfect purple flowers were requested to represent their company colours! The likes of Hydrangea, Brassica, Trachelium and Vanda Orchids were our choice with a splash of lime to bring out the colour! Beaut!

Next stop was today at The Luton Hoo Walled Garden and how fabulous it was too! (http://www.lutonhoo-walledgarden.co.uk/news_2.php). A repeat request from AIP Events for a purple candelabra arrangement to exhibit at the wedding fayre was the order of the day and lovely it was too! A few new purple flowers popped into the mix, the likes of Roses and Clematis alongside the inclusion of wonderful purple Hydrangeas, Brassica and Vanda Orchids! Magnif!

Wonderful!

There are many more fabulous events to share with you such as a private function at Fortnum and Mason and flowers for The Grand Order of Lady Ratlings Annual Ball at Gibson Hall so keep your eyes peeled folks!

Arrangement of the month...

The idea is that every month one of The Flower Shop designers creates a fabulous gift utilising seasonal flowers available from New Covent Garden Flower market and the best Dutch Auction Houses. We aim to create an imaginative and artistic arrangement with that little extra sparkle of Flower Shop magic!

So we've recently changed our arrangement of the month….what is it I hear you ask? Well currently it’s a wooden tray arrangement jam packed with seasonal flowers, the likes of English Hydrangea, Dahlias, Roses, Celosia and Orchids. Bold, colourful and a brilliant gift for all occasions and for those looking for something a little different!

While we’re on the note of arrangements, I’d like to share with you the variety of containers and displays we do alongside bouquets. For those that require a gift created in a container we stock a whole host to cater for a range of styles, from the rustic to the modern. With a variety of options spanning from glass cubes, dishes, tall vases, baskets, wooden trugs, terracotta pots and trays! ... Just to give you an idea! :)

In glass: Chunky glass pots are perfect for bold, striking blooms and colours! Cymbidium Orchids, Sunflowers and Tom Pearce Blooms accompanied with Oak leaves are ideal for such a look! White a green looks super smart too don't you think!?

In a trug: The likes of orange Germini, Celosia, Roses, Orchids and Viburnum are arranged wonderfully in a traditional styled country garden trug. Complete with our trademark raffia bow!

Terracotta pot arrangements: As explained on our websites, a 'long-tom' styled terracotta pot gives a bit of 'lift' over the similar priced basket arrangement. Their rustic charm is evident and suitable for any colour scheme, they really are a fabulous gift!

Arrangements make brilliant gifts for all occasions - birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, bar mitzvahs – the list is endless :) Our websites also show a great selection, go on take a peek!
