Bushey in bloom...

Bushey Festival runs over the first two weeks of July and it is safe to say it’s in full swing! Organised entirely by volunteers, the festival is an adored part of the Bushey community life.  As stated on http://www.busheyfestival.org.uk/, ‘St James’s Church has welcomed flower arrangers from neighbouring churches and societies in creating interpretive floral design.’ With that said, The Flower Shop team have had the pleasure of creating a floral arch arrangement for the entrance of the church.

A work in progess:

Step 1: Having securely attached the moss and chicken wire frame in place, we 'greened' up the arch using salal tips and senecio.

Step 2: Adding amaranthus or otherwise known as 'love lies bleeding!'

Step 3: Slowly taking shape by adding LOTS of alliums!

Step 4: Adding both purple and peach carnations :) Wonderful!

Step 5: Spot the difference?!

Step 6: The inclusion of eryngium  and alchemilla mollis is brilliant, the arch is brought to life!

Step 7: Assess and take stock...

Step 8: Have a cuppa! :)

It's brilliant to say that the majority of the flowers used in the arch are English grown :) We chose fairly hardy flowers to hopefully stand up to this British heatwave!

If you get a chance, pop down to The Flower Festival at St James's Church this weekend, wonderful exhibits created inside by local flower arrangers - hopefully pictures to follow. Refreshments on offer too :D

Until next time,

Holly
