Wonderful windows...

The luxury of having a wonderful double fronted shop facade allows us the luxury to display and present stunning seasonal flowers and plants which are inviting and representative of what’s inside. I believe the importance of a shop window display should not be underestimated; it’s a dynamic way to advertise our shop and our first point of contact with you lovely people! So we endeavour to impress!

Every week, The Flower Shop team allows time to design an aesthetically appealing, seasonal window to give you a taster of what is current and blooming and to share our current inspirations and creativity. Our windows also show off our quirky bits and pieces which make perfect gifts. Don’t be shy, come and have a look! :)

Here’s a selection of windows past and present just to give you a sample of what we create to keep the shop interesting, current and inviting…

Currently the Bushey shop displays brilliant large head alliums surrounded by ivy plants in the large urn, accompanied by beautiful English hydrangea bunches in the smaller urn!

Past windows have displayed an assortment of magnificent blooms and amaryllis...

A compilation of different sized bottles with vibrant anemones and pastel hydrangeas in the first picture while the next shows beautiful peonies and Lily of the Valley...

Our most recent Valentines window...

As for the Watford shop, here's a taster of their brilliant shop window displays... fabulous colours, seasonal flowers and strong themes!

Now that's what you call an Easter tree!! Superb!!

In the words of Harry Potter "Wingardium Leviosa!"

Pictures galore!... but I hope you've enjoyed a look at some of the windows we achieve. Needless to say they are much better in the flesh  ;)

Thank you for your time and until next time,

Holly :)

The Bushey community...

Hello all! The Bushey Festival has come to an end for another year but needless to say it was a great success and plenty of fun had by all. The Festival was proud to receive recognition from the Mayor of Hertsmere and the support from local businesses.

For those that couldn't make it to the Bushey Flower Festival, here’s a sneak peek into the exhibits created by local flower arrangers and neighbouring churches and societies.

Brilliant!! :)

There's lots coming up on the blog in the not too distant future! Alongside our creations for weddings, gifts and events, we hope to cover our current favourites, trends and ideas, the likes of bottles and jars, summer jug flowers and wonderful shop window displays to name but a few! Keep your eyes peeled folks!

Until next time,

Holly

Bushey in bloom...

Bushey Festival runs over the first two weeks of July and it is safe to say it’s in full swing! Organised entirely by volunteers, the festival is an adored part of the Bushey community life.  As stated on http://www.busheyfestival.org.uk/, ‘St James’s Church has welcomed flower arrangers from neighbouring churches and societies in creating interpretive floral design.’ With that said, The Flower Shop team have had the pleasure of creating a floral arch arrangement for the entrance of the church.

A work in progess:

Step 1: Having securely attached the moss and chicken wire frame in place, we 'greened' up the arch using salal tips and senecio.

Step 2: Adding amaranthus or otherwise known as 'love lies bleeding!'

Step 3: Slowly taking shape by adding LOTS of alliums!

Step 4: Adding both purple and peach carnations :) Wonderful!

Step 5: Spot the difference?!

Step 6: The inclusion of eryngium  and alchemilla mollis is brilliant, the arch is brought to life!

Step 7: Assess and take stock...

Step 8: Have a cuppa! :)

It's brilliant to say that the majority of the flowers used in the arch are English grown :) We chose fairly hardy flowers to hopefully stand up to this British heatwave!

If you get a chance, pop down to The Flower Festival at St James's Church this weekend, wonderful exhibits created inside by local flower arrangers - hopefully pictures to follow. Refreshments on offer too :D

Until next time,

Holly

Bushey Flower Festival 2013

Rolling with The Stones...

Last week was another jam packed week for The Flower Shop with a whole host of events and functions, not to mention flowers for The Rolling Stones!!

Barclaycard presents British Summer Time at Hyde Park hosts the epic rock band The Rolling Stones and WOW!...what a pleasure for The Flower Shop on being asked to provide flowers for The Rolling Stones dressing room both last week and this coming weekend :D (http://www.bst-hydepark.com/).

Stunning wild and country filled vase arrangements accompanied by brilliant rose busting coffee table arrangements were the requirements! Take a peek, they are truely gorgeous!

Vases and table arrangements were prepared in the shop and then delivered to The Rolling Stones... Brilliant!

In a blockbusting week, we were also asked to create a floral gift for Kylie Minogue. The picture below shows Kylie's gift, her favourite Catharina Fontjin Peonies courtesy of The Flower Shop Watford... Beautiful!

As the saying goes, everything happens in 3's, we were due to deliver flowers for Elton John for the concert at Hyde Park too but alas his ill health has forced him to withdraw. Get well Elton! :)

Summer has well and truly arrived and keeping on the theme of peonies… check out these exquisite peonie table arrangements for a birthday lunch at St James’, Bushey last weekend… Peonie heaven!

Also on the agenda last week were these funky table arrangements for The Grove, a combination of striking blue hydrangeas accompanied with yellow roses on LED lighting! Awaiting delivery in the shop...

...The finished article :)

There's lots in the pipeline so keep your eyes peeled for this weekends Rolling Stone instalment plus The Flower Shops creation for the Bushey Flower Festival - a wonderful  floral arch arrangement!

Until next time,

Holly :)
