These are a Few of my Favourite Things...

Flowers, The Potting Shed and…. Ice Cream!

Let me explain…. A beautiful wedding took place last week in The Grove’s Potting Shed and it was a absolute pleasure to be a part of it. The Potting Shed is a wonderful Victorian Glasshouse set within The Grove’s Walled Garden, choc full of ‘antiques from Provence and England.’  All in all a perfect venue for a wedding!

Here’s a taster of the gorgeous flowers used for this wedding, in this instance, a scrumptious arrangement to decorate the ice cream bike!

Now into the venue and setting the atmosphere….Lanterns, t-lights and petals really help create a beautiful ambiance.

Setting up the runner of pots… but how many?

Flower arrangements in The Grove's Potting Shed

…Well let me tell you! The Flower Shop team designed and arranged approximately 45 table centres to create a long table runner, each one different to the other. Silver cubes and pots played host to a special selection of flowers, the likes of garden Roses, Hydrangeas, Peonies, Dahlias, Astilbe and Kaaps.

You can call a spade a spade but what about a Rose?!  How about Houdini, O’Hara, Vuvuzela, Piano, Lady Bombastic, Dolche Vita, Kieira or All for Love…these are just a few of the Roses we incorporated for our special bride.

Romantic, magical and spectacular!

Variety is the Spice of Life...

The variety of flowers available at the moment is truly gorgeous! Colours, textures and styles… the choice is almost overwhelming but with the collaboration from The Flower Shop team we can create your desired look.

Over the past couple of weekends we’ve had the pleasure of decorating one of The Grove’s most beautiful rooms for the weddings taking place there.  It’s interesting to see how floral arrangements can transform the look of a room to suit all tastes and preferences.

So first up came a truly scrumptious wedding. The colour palette for this wedding reminded me of sugared almonds and marshmallows… sweet, dreamy and simply delightful!

The ceremony room was just a taster of what was to come - a gorgeous selection of silver lanterns and pots containing beautiful posies.

Now into the Donneraile Room and the theme continues. An assortment of pots acted as a runner along the length of the dining table interspersed with candles and scattered in petals. Pride of place was a gorgeous hurricane lamp arrangement choca block with wonderful seasonal flowers. The likes of Avalanche Roses, Sweetpeas, Peonies and Hydrangea, it really was good enough to eat!

Totally gorgeous!

The following week our second wedding was equally as gorgeous and just as special to be a part of but different in colours and an alternative layout!  As the saying goes, variety is the spice of life! So for this the colour palette was palest pink shades and white.  For the reception we arranged 2 candelabra arrangements and 3 long and low table centres…stunning!

Hydrangeas, Roses and Phalaenopsis Orchids were perfect ingredients with trailing ivy adding an extra dimension and magic!...

...While Stocks, Astilbe and Eustoma were nice additions to the low table centres. Not forgetting a scattering of petals for that extra touch of romance and the room is set.

Talk about divine!... A wonderful combination of Avalanche Roses and Sweetpeas, perfect for the beautiful bride to be!

Right, no time to rest, big wedding coming up tomorrow! A very exciting time, it’s going to look fabulous, I cannot wait!

Mammoth Update Alert!

The blog’s had a quite couple of weeks while the shop has been booming. I’m back to the blogosphere so here’s a catch up of The Flower Shop's recent events and goings on!...It’s safe to say Summer is well and truly alive and kicking!

So looking back a couple of weeks now let’s begin with a private party in a home in Radlett. For this we created 3 wonderful leaf bowl arrangements containing Sweet Peas, Phalaenopsis Orchids, Hydrangeas, sprigs of Lavender and Roses!  Seasonal, scented and gorgeous!

Next up we provided flowers for a golden wedding anniversary lunch at St James’ Restaurant, Bushey Village. Eight glass cubes of loveliness were the order of the day - the likes of Celosia, Agapanthus, Roses and Eustoma seemed the perfect choice!

The Grove Hotel is a perfect venue for a corporate function or a beautiful wedding. Luckily we have the privilege of accommodating all occasions. Over the past couple of weeks we’ve catered for a banking corporation and a major hair product company.

Our first function, for a banking corporation, required 16 modern, simple arrangements and 3 low and long table centres in their company colours. Any ideas?... Red Anthiriums, Roses and Eustoma were ideal to use!

The Grove’s Potting Shed played host to our second corporate function and white Delphiniums were the order of the day!  Setting the tone, 2 gorgeous entrance vases incorporating Delphiniums, Hydrangeas and Alchemilla Mollis for that zingy lime!  Moving into the room itself, 6 tall vases displayed a mass of white Delphs surrounded by a collar of Aspidistra leaves! They look super fresh and impressive!

Utilising the majority of our Bride's vases and bottles, we arranged lovely flower arrangements to complete the look! Hydrangeas, Roses and Gypsophilia were the ingredients alongside some Flower Shop flair!

Our brides stunning bouquet! 4 similar bridesmaid posies were made alongside 2 corsages, 6 button holes and a circlet!

A Wonderful Time of Year...

What does summer mean to you? Do you have a favourite summer flower?... I know mine changes every week, with every delivery! The variety of flowers available is amazing! It’s hard to convey a flower's true beauty in the form of a photograph but for today’s blog I’d thought I’d share a few recent pictures of the shop and it's contents – it really is looking lovely at the minute. Always better to pop in tho! :)

A tour around the store… A wonderful Delphinium and Alchemilla Mollis urn display!

Veronica, Roses, Hydrangea and Clematis!... Lovely!

~~~~~~~
So we’re into July already (eek!) but if it’s OK I would like to share the last of June’s events. So take a step back in time to last week where we were at The Grove Hotel for a couple of functions and VIP guests! ;)
The middle of the week required us to make 12 white and green cube arrangements for a 4 day function for Deutsche Bank. For these, Roses, Agapanthus, Cymbidium Orchids and Eustoma were the ideal components!
The weekend saw us designing and creating wonderful arrangements for a special birthday dinner in The Grove’s Potting Shed. The theme was Mexican! So the requirements were bold, vibrant and fun for which we arranged 10 terracotta pot table centres interspersed with hurricane lamps, acting as a runner along the dining table. The likes of cerise Vanda Orchids, Anthuriums, Miss Piggy Roses and Celosia were perfect ingredients!
Woweee! I think it looks absolutely gorgeous!
Talk about making an entrance! A fabulous arrangement to welcome guests!... Magnif!
So what does July bring for The Flower Shop…lots is the short answer! Alongside usual shop duties, this week I can tell you we have 2 functions and a wedding as well as many presentation gifts for the end of term at school!
Until next time,
Holly J
Summer is a Riot of Colour!
What’s not to love about the Summer season? The flowers available are truly wonderful so come in and grab a bunch! Delphiniums, Peonies, Hydrangeas, Scabiosa, Astrantia…. The list is almost endless! Dutch and English flowers at their best!
So what have we created recently with such gorgeous ingredients!?
Well straight off the website a specific arrangement was picked for two separate corporate functions at The Grove Hotel! Just like buses, when you want one, two come at the same time! J So first up last week, 7 summer bowl arrangements were requested for The Ivory Suite alongside 2 wonderful entrance vases! Bright, rich summer colours made up with Hydrangea, Alliums, Cymbidium Orchids and Celosia are perfect!
Later that week and for a separate occasion, 30, yes 30 summer bowls were required for a more informal tone, a barbecue held in The Grove’s gardens and The Amber Room. Fabulous flowers and lots of fun had by all!
The weekend to follow we had a wedding in The Grove's Donneraile Room! The colour scheme was white with a pop of orange which worked really well!
Take a look at the bridal flowers!...
Alongside the bridal bouquet we arranged 4 high arrangements and 5 low table centres in mirrored cubes. The flower selection was wonderful, the likes of Vanda Orchids, Orange Naranja Roses, Peach Avalanche Roses, Campanula, Asclepia and Alchemilla Mollis. Lovely!
Next up, 2 gorgeous summer pastel table arrangements were requested for The Grove Hotel along with 2 summer hand tied gifts, all ready and waiting to be delivered!
Lastly, a host of colourful and bright flowers, Gerberas, Blooms, Miss Piggy Roses and Celosia were the order of the day for an upcoming Bar mitzvah. A high arrangement and two cubes to match were going to Luton Hoo on Sunday for a fun filled day!
Lots on the agenda folks, so keep your eyes peeled for our latest news and floral arrangements…
Over and out for now,
Holly  :)
