Pink and blue as they say "I do!"...

The Flower Shop team have been non-stop over the Bank Holiday bringing together final touches to a jam packed weekend of weddings and events. This blog will be the first instalment of our weekends work, concentrating on our wonderful weddings. If we’re all sitting comfortably, then I shall begin :)

First up came a fabulous wedding at The Runnymede-On-Thames Hotel in Surrey (http://www.runnymedehotel.com/) on the Saturday. The bride required 8 wonderful high table arrangements chocker-block with flowers in all shades of pink. So for this we incorporated brilliant pale pink Hydrangeas, a plethora of Aqua and Avalanche Roses in peach and pink, Eustoma (Lisianthus) and Peonies. Crystal loops were the final touch, a touch of sparkle for a wonderful bride!

For the top table we assembled a runner of small pots and containers holding beautiful flowers similar to those in the high arrangements but with the extra special inclusion of pale pink Sweet Peas! Their fragrance and delicate nature are hard to ignore!

How beautiful is the bridal bouquet (left)?!...Bridesmaid posies to compliment. Perfect!

On Sunday a team of us headed off to The Grove Hotel early doors to set up our second wedding of the weekend. As this one was of the Jewish faith, first job of the day was to construct the Chuppah for the ceremony room which was to take place in the Amber Suite. The Chuppah arrangements were made up with similar flowers to that of the 6 high arrangements – purple Hydrangea, English Hydrangea, Avalanche Roses, Scabiosa and Eustoma.

From a work in progress attaching Ruscus garlands...

to this...

Wow!

For the ceremony the high arrangements were not so high and were placed on pedestals along the isle but in a blink of an eye the arrangements were adjusted to decorate the reception room alongside low table centres in glass dishes! 10 points to those that can spot the Chuppah arrangements now?! :) Scattered rose petals around the arrangements were the finishing touch! Truly wonderful!

Our bride chose a fabulous red rose bridal bouquet made up of Grand Prix Roses which stands out brilliantly against her bridesmaids posies which are made up of Ilios pale yellow and Sweet Avalanche Roses. Lovely!

It was a pleasure to be involved with both weddings this weekend, a lot of fun had by all! Best wishes to the newlyweds! :)

Look out for second instalment of our Bank Holiday events and our floral table arrangements for The Grove Hotel's photo shoot!

Until next time,

Holly :)

Our week so far...

Hello all! Can you believe we are in late August already?!  I can’t, but the August Bank Holiday is almost upon us and we have hit the ground running with a plethora of weddings and events coming up in the next few days - so pictures aplenty in the not so distant future! But for now I thought I’d take this opportunity to keep you up to date with our weekly goings on at The Flower Shop.

Behind the scenes were are busy coming up with new floral arrangements for corporate clients and the upcoming Jewish New Year, organising wedding flowers and table centres for a hotel photo shoot.

With corporate functions in the pipeline, some clients request specific requirements for their floral arrangements, whether it’s a particular theme, flower or specific colours to denote their company we try to cater to their needs. Our ideas can combine with our clients brief to create a fabulous floral arrangement that can leave a lasting impression.

Here’s a few samples we prepared earlier!... Funky and orange Calla Lilies were the original request but other orange flowers are an alternative.

We will keep you posted to which one is chosen! What’s your favourite?! Comments welcome :)

Another function requests a non-flowery, wine theme for a male clientèle. This is the first sample we've come up with! I love this one!... Good enough to eat!

In my opinion flowers can enhance an event and we endeavour to tick all the boxes :)

For the shop we have created these fabulous succulent planted arrangements in bark containers made by our fair hands too! They make brilliant gifts and ever so easy to maintain!

Feel free to comment and 'Like' our Flower Shop Facebook pages if you so wish! Lots in the pipeline so keep your eyes peeled folks!

Enjoy the weekend and until next time,

Holly :)

Our adventures in Wonderland...

So Saturday was the big day and what a fabulous day it was! With flowers, props, work box and creativity packed up in the van, we set off to The Grove Hotel, Hertfordshire. Our bride and groom wished for an Alice in Wonderland theme to run throughout their day and a special request of a wishing tree - a destination for their guests to attach photographs and notes during the day.

Apologies in advance as I feel that my words may not truly illustrate the magic and splendour of the occasion but I think the pictures speak for themselves.

The Donneraile room played host to a 'mad hatteresque' tea party, a vast array of vessels such as teapots, cups, jugs, bottles and birdcages displayed our choice of pretty summer flowers.  A combination of seasonal pastel shades makes for a magical and dreamy table runner.

Garden roses, scabiosa, hydrangea, astilbe, grasses and matricaria are just a few examples of the flowers we used. Fabulous! Our bride particularly liked peach gerbras and echinops (other wise known as 'globe thistles) so they were a must to include! :)

Not a stone was left unturned by our bride or us and attention to detail was imperative... right down to the table cloths! A marvellous combination of books, bottles, candlesticks, mushrooms and cake stands are just a few of the ingredients needed for a Flower Shop Special!

Truly beautiful!

Next step, the construction of the wishing tree! The Garden Room played host to this! We had prepared beautiful floral pomanders containing avalanche roses, vintage carnations and cymbidium orchids to decorate the main body of the tree and to compliment the table flowers. The addition of phalaenopsis orchids on the branches really set it off alongside a collection of keys, pocket watches and photographs. Our bride had organised a polaroid camera and props for guests to take pictures of the reception for which to hang on the tree. A brilliant idea and a lot of fun I think!

White Rabbit: I'm late, I'm late, for a very important date, no time to say "Hello, Goodbye." I'm late, I'm late, I'm late.

Why not top off the day with a magnificent cake, truly fit for the occasion by Choccywoccydoodah?! Roses, petals and moss supplied by us :)

From all at The Flower Shop, we wish the newlyweds much health and happiness for the future!

Until next time,

Holly :)

Theme of the week...

Themes, colours, location and favourite flowers are just the very beginnings of a fabulous wedding! This weekend’s wedding is no exception! Preparation is key and we are in the midst of it - designing, organising and collecting props are the name of the game at the minute! Not to mention, the creation of a wishing tree! What is the theme you ask?!...

Alice in Wonderland!

Where? The Grove Hotel, Hertfordshire

So watch this space, it’s a very exciting time at The Flower Shop!

Until next time,

Holly :)

Heavenly high arrangements...

We are in the midst of wedding season! Such a wonderful time of year, so I thought I would dedicate this blog to some of our high arrangements we have created in recent times, to share what we can achieve and perhaps inspire you love birds out there! There are many floral elements that can be incorporated into your big day, whether you require a bridal bouquet and a groom’s button hole to the whole sha-bang!!...we endeavour to meet your requirements to make for an enjoyable and personal experience.

It is a privilege to work with soon to be newlyweds from the very first consultation discussing dates, venues and initial ideas to the big day itself! It’s such an exciting time for us florists too as no two weddings seem to be the same! We incorporate seasonal flowers to suit the colour scheme requested and any particular preference to create an arrangement and/or bridal bouquet that is unique to you!

So, what is a ‘high arrangement’ I hear you ask? Here's a few we prepared earlier!….

                                                                    On clear vases...

 On candelabras...

                                                                 Alternative highs...

                                                          Woahhhh!... What a selection!

Function rooms vary in style, size and appeal but hopefully our images will spark ideas on how to host your own event and how you can mix both high and low table arrangements to make for an impressive display :)

Please don’t hesitate to ask if you’re wedding venue is out of the Bushey and Watford area! We've had the pleasure of decorating a plethora of venues ranging from the Herts, Beds and Bucks areas to London’s West End hotels and exclusive Central London party venues.

A lot of photos to digest so I'll give you time to get you're breath back :) Over and out for now,

Holly :)
